Good reads and eats as CHOP officially opens in Providence Public Library

(WJAR) — The Providence Public Library on Washington Street isn’t just for reading, now it’s also for eating.

Chief Operating Officer Joshua Riazi said they held their grand opening Wednesday evening.

“We’re running a fully operating restaurant alongside some trainees who have participated in the Genesis Center’s culinary and hospitality training programs,” said Riazi.

It took four years and $1 million to open the Culinary Hub of Providence, also known as CHOP.

“Part of what we designed here at CHOP is a way to give opportunities that may at times be elite, going into full culinary training is something that is out of a lot of people’s reach,” said Riazi. “We designed an opportunity here where people could get paid on the job while they’re training.”
